Oil paintings, inspired by the Outer Hebrides, by Vega will be on display from 2-24 June 2006 at the Castle Gallery in Inverness.
Vega studied Fine Art at Leeds University and spent much of her life travelling and painting at home and abroad before settling in Lewis.
Her paintings are imbued with the essence of life on this small Hebridean isle. The weather, light, water, landscape and island life are the subjects of her most successful paintings.
She is particularly adept at capturing the effects of movement, be it in the wind, in the water, from the deck of a boat, a pecking hen or sheep being rounded up by a sheepdog.
She is a keen sailor and has built her own boat. Her marine paintings are heart felt, as she knows what it is like to claw to windward against a foul tide.
Vega is the name she has chosen to sign her work. It is in honour of a boat which safely carried her for many a sea mile.
