DANNSA, Scotland’s best known and loved traditional dance company, is combining forces with FIRST HARVEST, widely recognised as some of Gaelic tradition’s finest singers and musicians, for performance in Ardross Hall on Saturday 17 June 2006.
The concert promises a feast of music and song, steeped in the Scottish and Gaelic traditions, but speaking to modern Scotland. These two major talents will be combining forces and repertoire to deliver an evening of powerful and engaging music and dance.
Celebrating the rich culture and infectious energy of Traditional Scottish Dance, Dannsa’s four dancers Frank McConnell, Donald Brown, Caroline Reagh and Sandra Robertson, perform their special brand of Scottish step dance, sword dance, quadrilles and ceilidh dances, accompanied by the powerful and engaging music of piper Fin Moore, fiddler Karen Steven and Gaelic singer Liz McLean.
First Harvest’s Iain MacDonald of Ossian and Battlefield Band on pipes, flute & whistle, and Iain MacFarlane of Blazin’ Fiddles on fiddle are joined by guitarist Ross Martin of bands Daimh and Harum Scarum, and Gaelic singer Kathleen MacInnes from South Uist and bring a refreshing musical perspective on how the tradition from this part of the world is performed in a contemporary setting.
Over the evening they will be performing sets alone as well as accompanying the dancers in powerful ensemble sets with the Dannsa musicians.
Doors open 7.15pm for an 8pm start. Tickets for the show can be booked on
