Highland 2007, the year Scotland celebrates Highland culture, is taking its message to VisitScotland’s expo in Glasgow this week (26-27 April 2006).

VisitScotland expo is Scotland’s only flagship business to business event for the travel trade. It offers the perfect opportunity to showcase the Highlands and the programme of events being brought together for Highland 2007 to tour operators and travel agents from around the globe.

VisitScotland expo is open to buyers from all sectors of the industry – coach tour operators, group travel organisers, conference and incentive buyers, travel agents and independent tour operators and wholesalers, specially selected from worldwide markets including Europe, USA, Japan, Australia, and of course the United Kingdom.

Highland 2007 will be the main theme for the Highland exhibitors’ aisle at expo. The key message for tour operators and travel agents is that the Highlands of Scotland is a great place to live and to visit.

Highland 2007 will provide a platform at expo for Breabach, a band which has been storming festivals and folk clubs across Scotland since forming in 2002, to promote traditional music.

Traditional music students from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) in Glasgow will also be representing Highland 2007 and Blas – the festival celebrating Highland music and Gaelic.

Fiona Hampton, director of Highland 2007 said: “We are excited to be able to promote the Highlands and Highland 2007 in particular to such an influential group of people who can sell the Highlands as a ‘must see, must do’ destination to their customers.

“It is great that we are able to have Breabach and the traditional music students from the RSAMD performing over the course of the two days. I’m sure they will go down a storm and will really help to promote the vibrancy of traditional music and the wider cultural scene within the Highlands.”
