The Highlands and Islands Short Story Association (HISSAC) has launched its annual short story competition for 2006.

All stories on any theme are welcome, the more interesting and unusual the better, but no stories for children please.

First prize : £200
Closing date : July 31st 2006
Max. word count : 2,500
Entry fee : £4 per story, or 3 entries for £10
Cheques to HISSAC
Banker’s draughts, Postal Orders, Travellers’ Cheques also acceptable; foreign currency, if no alternative available, can be exchanged by our bank

Winning entry & runners-up will be published on our website: entry into the competition will assume this to be tacitly agreed; full copyright remains with the author.

No entry form is needed, but please make sure you include a cover sheet with the story title and your contact details;

Entries should be single-sided, double-spaced and pages numbered;

The winner will be announced at the end of September 2006;
