Work by Mull artist Dawn Reade has been chosen from over 1250 entries to exhibit at ‘Originals 06: The Contemporary Printmaking Show’ at the Mall Galleries in central London. The exhibition will take place from 15th to 25th February 2006 and will cover a wide range of contemporary printmaking media and styles. This year’s Private View falls on 14th February, when the show will be officially opened by Sir Peter Blake.

Originals 06 provides the perfect opportunity to view and buy work by some of the country’s best contemporary print makers, from famous artists to the next generation of talent. This open exhibition features stunning works of art made using the whole spectrum of printmaking processes from silkscreen to litho, etching to linocut and monoprint to digital. All work in the show is for sale, offering a chance to purchase a stunning, original work of art and a genuine investment without breaking the bank.

Six lucky visitors to the exhibition will also begin or further their print collection for free as winners of a prize draw to win one of six signed and numbered original prints! This year’s prints have been donated to the prize draw by artists Carole Hensher, Stuart Pearson Wright, Charlotte Cornish, Ashley Cook, Neil Pittaway and Paul Catherall and all visitors to the show will be eligible to enter the draw.

All works at ‘Originals 06’ are original prints, which means they have been conceived deliberately by the artist as a print, in a limited, hand made quantity and endorsed with the artist’s signature. This means ‘Originals 06’ really is the foremost place to come to see the very best examples of the art form by living artists, and not mere copies of work conceived in another medium. It also ensures that visitors are given the chance to view truly unique works of an excellent standard.

This will be the third annual Originals exhibition at the Mall Galleries. In 2004 the National Print Exhibition was re-launched as ’Originals 04’ and since then it has been a huge hit with artists and visitors alike. And if last year’s diverse, savvy show was anything to go by, ‘06’ should be just as popular.
