During December 2005, Charioteer Theatre, in collaboration with Moray Council, will be running two acting courses on how to build a monologue in Elgin. The Level 1 Course will take place from 5-10 December 2005 and the Level 2 course from 12-17 December 2005, both at Moray Music Centre in Elgin.
ABOUT THE COURSES
These two courses are intended to explore the construction of a monologue.
The Level 1 course is open to beginners (with very little or no knowledge of the stage).
The Level 2 course is directed towards the more experienced in acting.
If required the teacher will advise the participant on the appropriate course level .
The course structure is designed to focus on the personal development of each participant. We will particularly concentrate on the acting process leading towards interpretation. Participants will explore all the phases of work through which an actor moves for the
construction of a piece.
Monologues will be chosen from the following authors:
Shakespeare, Chekhov, Moliere, Pirandello & Beckett.
The course will include:
- TEXT APPROACH & ANALYSIS
- PHYSICAL TRAINING
- IMPROVISATION TECHNIQUES & THEIR APPLICATION
- INDIVIDUAL WORK ON TEXT
Sessions will be organized so that each participant will receive individual tuition and the time to develop his/her work.
The teacher will choose a suitable monologue
according to the participant’s skills.
The monologue will be sent via post or email.
Participants will be required to learn it by heart before the beginning of their course.
