Clay in Bloom exhibition at An Tobar
Clay in Bloom exhibition at An Tobar
28 September 2005

An Tobar is delighted to welcome Clay in Bloom to Gallery I & II in October, an exhibition featuring the work of eighteen of Scotland’s most talented ceramic artists inspired by the mission statement of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh ‘to explore and explain the world of plants’.

The exhibition comprises ceramics large and small, functional and sculptural, free-standing and wall mounted, reflecting the sheer diversity of contemporary ceramic practice in Scotland today. Interpreting the mission statement and ethos of the Royal Botanic Gardens, the artists had immense scope to develop work which explores the inclusion of plant materials within the fabric of clay and the relationship and parallels between clay and plant life.

Clay in Bloom forms part of the celebrations to mark the 30th anniversary of the Scottish Potters Association (SPA) and has been supported by the Scottish Arts Council National Lottery Fund, the Craft Potters’ Charitable Trust and ‘Awards For All’.

Work by local potters and ceramic artists will accompany the exhibition. Clay in Bloom previews on Tuesday 4th October, 6-8pm. Ceramic artist Lorna Fraser will be offering ‘Drawing with Clay’ taster sessions throughout the evening as part of the national Big Draw week.

4th – 29th October, Clay in Bloom, Gallery I & II, An Tobar, Tobermory, Isle of Mull.  Tuesday – Saturday 10am – 4pm. Admission Free.
