The Atrium Gallery at PricewaterhouseCoopers is delighted to bring to London for the first time the work of Hebridean-based artist, Olwen Shone. Olwen’s hauntingly quiet work creates a powerful counterpoint to the frantic hubbub of corporate activity that surrounds the exhibition space.
The exhibition 'Describing a Line - White Line’ is a series of films and photographs in which the viewer is invited to engage with the experience of a wild and barren landscape and, in particular, focuses on one small fragment - a white wave.
Using text, photography and film, Olwen creates a multi-layered experience that juxtaposes a romantic notion of nature with one that is constantly underscored by power and violence.
Olwen studied at Glasgow School of Art from 1995 - 1998 and has exhibited her work widely throughout the UK and Europe. She is now based on the island of North Uist which provides much of the inspiration and subject matter for her subtle and evocative work.
