Robotone's first anniversary party will bring a unique mix of acts to Oscars Bar in Dingwall on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st July 2005, with two rooms of music catering to all tastes and guaranteeing a night not to be missed.
A year on from the legendary Robotone launch party, Robbie Dunsmore's business has exceeded expectations, with, among other things, music workshops in schools and youth groups throughout the Highlands and Islands and a series of successful nights in the area showcasing some of the best in home-grown talent. Robbie also works closely with respected sound engineer and musician Gareth Ince to deliver high spec PA systems for bands and DJs around the north.
The first anniversary party will be held at Oscars Bar, Dingwall on Saturday 30th July. Robbie will be performing a live set with his synths and drum machines creating an up-tempo mix of big bass lines and electro beats.
Robbie has accomplished a number of notable gigs to date including performances at the Bongo Club in Edinburgh and the QMU in Glasgow. He continues to make a name for himself as one of the most innovative and unique musicians to come out of the Highlands.
With their continuing success and increasing popularity, Stereoglo, who recently played at the Syke Music Festival, return with a wide spectrum of both sounds and talent. The band provide an outstanding and energetic performance, giving 110% and delivering an inimitable blend of everything from “catchy rock 'n’ roll” to “electronic filled grooves”, which is without doubt, unlike anything else around.
Keeping the proceedings funky will be The Disciples of Panic Earth (D.o.P.E.) with their fresh blend of organic hip hop. DoPE are a well-established group in the hip hop arena, offering an imaginative cross between jazz, funk, rock and blues. The MC and DJ from D.o.P.E have been popular at previous Robotone nights and they are looking forward to returning to Dingwall with their full line up. The full band have never played this far north before, making this is a rare opportunity to catch live hip hop at its best.
Glasgow-born DJ Default kicks things off with his original dub and hip hop sounds, ranging from drum ‘n’ base beats to out-and-out funk. Default is a recognised name on both the Glasgow and Edinburgh DJ circuits, with residencies at various Edinburgh venues and DJ sets at some well respected, big-name nights.
For those of you looking for some “tunes”, look no further than room two where Jamie B, Ryan Polson and Mathy will be getting the crowd going with some seriously funky tech house before moving to the main room to end the night. Also know as Substance, the boys provide a mix of deep, dark house with some all-time, essential classics that never fail to please.
There will be a Sunday Sesssion, also at Oscars, on the 31st kicking off at 5pm and continuing till late. Entry is free and a ticket stub from the Saturday night entitles you to a free drink on the Sunday. There will be visuals and music with a laptop/deck set from Chris Mackay and another appearance from Ryan Polson and Jamie B. Whether you're just up or still up this will be the perfect way to end a great weekend.
Tickets for Saturday are available at £5 from the Westend Filling Station and Branded in Dingwall, and JMF Records in Invergordon.
