As part of the Youth Arts Festival in the Highlands from 2005 to 2006 Arts in Motion are running a Filmmaking project. The project will include training for young people in all aspects of film making, but particularly in the technique known as Blue Screen. We are looking for people between the ages of 14 & 25 who are interested in all aspects of film making to take part in this exciting, new project. The project will offer introductory and basic workshops plus placements for more intensive film making training.
To enable us to include a wider range of groups who want to make their own films, Arts in Motion will also be running an open competition for short films. These could be documentaries, animations, pop videos or any other category of film by 14-25 year olds in the Highlands. The competition will be advertised in all secondary schools and through youth development officers and the press and radio, so look out for the information.
The finale of the year of performance and film will be a series of mock Oscar ceremonies, `The Alberts`. These events will include all the trappings of the real Oscars and will involve live entertainment by young people.
This project is designed to ‘kick start’ opportunities for young film makers in the North Highlands. It will offer skills and an opportunity to focus on youth events. It will also provide a showcase for their work which will be the start of an annual celebration of young highland film makers leading to a follow on community event starting in 2006, leading to the Highland Shorts event which is planned by Highland Council and Scottish Screen in 2007 –Year of Highland Culture.
So if you are between the ages of 14 & 25, have lots of ideas, creative energy and live in the North Highland Area get in touch.
