Black Isle Brewery digs Festival Roots stage and BBC Celtic Connections partners
06 June 2005

Belladrum Festival has announced that The Black Isle Brewery, the Highlands’ premier brewer of organic lager and ales, will be sponsoring the event’s Grassroots Stage.

The Grassroots Stage will feature acoustic music in a relaxed café bar atmosphere. Artists booked for the stage range from iconic Scots singer/songwriter Michael Marra to alt cowpunk US artist, Jason Ringenberg.

Based near Munlochy, Ross-shire, The Black Isle Brewery was founded in 1998 by its current owner David Gladwin. It’s range of six organic ales are now drunk all over the UK, and include Black Isle Blonde Premium Lager, Red Kite Ale and Black Isle Wheat Beer.

“Sponsoring the roots stage with an organic product range like ours was a no brainer,” said David Gladwin. “and Belladrum as an event is a perfect match for our brands – we both make the most of our natural surroundings!”

And in another new move for the festival, BBC Radio Scotland’s Celtic Connections programme has come on board as a media partner to the event.

The Belladrum line up now features headliners The Proclaimers and Alabama 3, supported by British Sea Power, The Bees, Jah Wobble, Peatbog Faeries, Ricky Ross (from Deacon Blue), The Bluetones, Country Joe MacDonald, Emiliana Torrini, El Presidente, The Black Velvets, Exist and Editors.

Taking place on 3 stages over 2 days, others amongst the 45 acts include: Aberfeldy; Karine Polwart; Baka Beyond; Jim Hunter Band; The Brakes; Trashcan Sinatras; Mohair; Hazy Janes; Cinematics; Poor Old Ben; Unholy Trinity; Heather MacLeod; Andy White; Wadada; Endrick Brothers; The Sundowns; The Duhks; N’Faly Kouyate; Karl Broadie Band; Stetsonhead; Galipaygos; Dexter Ardoin & The Creole Ramblers; Andy Gunn; Hotlicks Cookie; Ruthless Blues; Calamateur; Ruth Sutherland; Davie Cowan: and the Feis Rois Ceilidh Trail Band.
