Ivan Drever and Duncan Chisholm back home for Aviemore concert
26 May 2005

Two of Scotland’s biggest Celtic music stars, Ivan Drever and Duncan Chisholm are ready to return home for the first time in 6 months when they perform at the Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort on 12 June. The duo are looking forward to their first performance at the new £80million resort.

The concert is the first Scottish gig the pair have played for 6 months. The globe trotters are in much demand and only have the chance to play 3 or 4 concerts in Scotland each year. They attend many international events and have been invited to play the Celtic Colours Festival in Cape Britain, Canada, one of the leading Celtic music events in the world.

In a statement Ivan and Duncan said:

“We’re really looking forward to this first concert at the Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort. We play a lot of festivals so it is great to do something a little different and hold sway in an indoor auditorium for a change.

“It is also great to be back in Scotland and particularly the Highlands thanks to our local links. Every Highland concert is like a homecoming.”

Both players are well known for their involvement in Wolfstone, the band they have played in for a number of years. However each is recognised for individual talents too. Orkney born guitarist Ivan now lives in Spain, so relishes the journey back to Scotland to play in front of a native crowd.
Renowned as a songwriter as well as a guitarist his songs have even been recorded by such well known bands as The Dubliners.

Duncan Chisholm still lives in Kirkhill and learned the fiddle aged just eight, putting him at the forefront of Scots fiddle playing from a very early age. Described as a ‘maestro’ with the ability, to not only get a crowd going but also play haunting, emotional melodies, Duncan has won many awards and friends across the world.

Ruaridh Macdonald, Operations Director at Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort said:

“After the fantastic success of our first concert with Barbara Dickson we’re very pleased to be welcoming more Scottish music virtuosi to the resort.

“By bringing in talent like this we are demonstrating our commitment to providing access to a wide range of events and music genres. If you are new to Scottish music then this would be a great way to get involved.”

Tickets are on sale now priced at just £10 (+1 booking fee). Tickets are available from the box office on 0870 830 4828. The show starts at 7.30pm.
