Recordings of Gaelic songs, poetry and folklore from Islay are to be collected as part of a new project – Seanchas Ile – to conserve the island’s unique dialect. Ionad Chaluim Chille Ile, the island’s Gaelic Centre, will recruit volunteers who will go out and meet tradition bearers and record their stories or songs in digital format. The post of coordinator for the project – which is being funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Gaelic in the Community and Argyll & the Islands Enterprise - will be advertised soon. For more information about the project, contact Donald MacLennan at Ionad Chaluim Chille Ile on 01496 810818 or email
