STML to play Inverness
18 April 2005

On Saturday 14th May Edinburgh band STML play the Market Bar in Inverness. The band play 2 sets. One of covers at 10pm followed by a set of original numbers at 11pm. Entry is FREE!

For those who do not know, STML sound somewhat like the big guitar style of The Queens of the stone age and Muse, mixed with the ferocious lyrical vitriol of the likes of Killing Joke and System of a Down. The result is a socially aware rock band that has removed any trace of pretentious over indulgence to provide songs that are pure, honest, riff laden stabs of groove based attitude. Incorporating big radio friendly choruses that are catchy enough to ensure you sing along as you charge along the highway on your beloved motorbike, or skateboard, or whatever...In short they play sets full of short fast songs and have no room for ballads. Its a pure case of, heads down see you at the end.

STML are based in Edinburgh where they practice in the crypt of church. The band comprises of members from all over the UK, Iain MacAulay (vocals/guitar) from Stornoway, Dave McGinty (bass) from Alloa, John Hughes (guitar/vocals) from Liverpool and Alex Benzie (drums) from Edinburgh.

Since the start of 2004 STML have mainly being playing outside of Edinburgh. Particularly Inverness, Aberdeen, Perth, Dundee. And Stornoway, where they recorded three acoustic songs for BBC radio show RAPAL. Audience responses in the north have made the band feel like gods, in an entirely level headed feet firmly on the ground kind of way of course. In addition to pulling together into making a determined effort to let the whole country join in the experience that is STML.

For the last 5 months STML have been keeping a low profile to write new material and start the slow process of recording an album that will hopefully be out in the Autumn. After spending much of last year playing outside of Edinburgh this year will be no different. Return trips to Inverness, Aberdeen, Perth, Glasgow and Stornoway are all in hand. As are dates in Dunfermline and Falkirk. Plus trips to New Castle, Southport and Liverpool.
