The Independent on 19 March 2005 listed the 100 best reasons to visit Scotland’s cities and at number 28 is the Castle Gallery, Inverness. In the galleries section it is topped only by Aberdeen Art Gallery and the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh. It is the only commercial gallery to feature on the list.
The editorial says that the displays are ‘cleverly curated’ to suggest ways in which works of art and crafts might appear in a domestic environment. As well as showing work by leading artist there is ‘the buzz of emerging talent’ making the Castle Gallery an excellent place to buy art from ‘a mere £20 to upwards of £5,000’.
Feedback from satisfied customers contacting the VisitScotland website was the main source for compiling the ‘100 Best’ selection.
