Ceòlas Uibhist is running from 9-15th July and is proud of the exceptional line up of tutors for 2005.
Who could better express the song of the people than this amazing group of tutors: Kenna Campbell, Rona Lightfoot, Mairi Smith and Cathy Ann MacPhee. The group represents an astonishing wealth of knowledge and experience as well as just sheer talent. To play alongside we have young pipers: Angus MacKenzie, Fin Moore to teach Piping for Dance and Liam Brown to take on the mantle of the Ceol Mor instead of Allan MacDonald, who is unable to attend this year.
Cape Breton’s contribution with Fiddle will be from Carl MacKenzie, ably supported with West Highland Fiddle by Iain MacFarlane and Alistair White.
Dance will again be honoured by the presence of Mary Janet MacDonald, and Sine MacKenzie from Cape Breton, with Frank McConnell returning again to demonstrate his feel for the whole concept of ‘Ceòlas’
Piano will be offered by Marion MacLeod from Cape Breton. To retain the spirit of Ceòlas live musicians will play for the dancers and we are delighted that our own Angus MacDonald, Gabe MacVarish and Donal Brown will be here to support the week.
Ceòlas is offering a new element to our programme this year. All students have a Gaelic class but this year we are also offering GAELIC as either a first or second choice and we are lucky to have Fearchar MacLennan and Mary Ellen Stewart as tutors. Brush up your Gaelic and hear great music – only in Uist!!
The programme is again under the direction of Iain MacDonald
