Now in its third year the Skye & Lochalsh Studio Trails event has won the support of the former Royal Opera chief Sir Jeremy Isaacs and his wife Gillian Widdicombe who have a home at Edinbane on Skye said they were honoured to be involved in the promotion of local visual arts as joint patrons.
Skye based painter Diana Mackie said, “…we’re delighted - it’s really put the wind in our sails for the future…”
During the month of May artists and makers across the region open their working spaces to welcome visitors. In the last two years over 8000 members of the public have met 45 artists working in 22 different media.
The event is accompanied by an exhibition at the regional arts centre, An Tuireann, which will focus this year on work in progress. Chairwoman Annie Coomber said, “This unorthodox show will capture the essence of the creative process.”
