Ceòlas is delighted to announce that they have been successful in attracting funds from the Scottish Arts Council Youth Music Initiative for the coming 18 months in the Uists.   Ceòlas has attracted funds which will support people who wish to start teaching children traditional music (instrument or voice) and the other part of the package is for offering workshops for young people aged 16+ who have left school and still want to develop their musical ability.

Ceòlas will work in collaboration with Commun Phoiobearrach Uibhist agus Bharraigh, Feis Tir a Mhurain, Feis Tir an Eorna and the Accordion and Fiddle Club.    The work will take throughout the year depending on availability of tutors.

Interested groups to contact the Ceòlas office 01878 700154.   Ceolas’s role will primarily be to administer the project and support the organisation of visiting tutors.   The group held a meeting at Iochdar School and a further meeting will be held on Thursday 17 February between 5.15pm – 6.15pm at Iochdar School.
