The National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music
27 January 2005

Study Traditional Music in the heart of the West Highlands in a top class facility.

Now in its fifth year, the only Centre of Excellence in Scotland exclusively devoted to traditional music invites applications from all secondary school age pupils resident in Scotland who already play to a high standard and would like to improve.

The Centre is residential and is based at Plockton High School in beautiful Wester Ross. The instruments offered are accordion, bagpipes, clarsach, fiddle, guitar, piano, whistle, flute and both Gaelic and Scots song.

Plockton High School is consistently one of the country's best performers in Higher and Standard Grade results, and our hostel provides residential accommodation of the very highest standard. The Centre and the Hostel have both had excellent HMI reports in the last year.

All are welcome to the Open Weekend on 18 & 19 February 2005 in order to meet the staff and students.

All places are fully funded by the Scottish Executive in Partnership with the Highland Council.

Deadline for applications is Friday 25 February 2005.

Contact Dougie Pincock (Director), The Hostel, Plockton High School, Plockton, Wester Ross IV52 8TU on 01599 544706 or dougie.pincock@highland.gov.uk for application details.
