Pictures by children from Primary Schools all over Scotland are to go on display in Eden Court theatre from January 10 to February 12 2005 in MY FAMILY – pictures by Scottish Children.
The exhibition is of the top entries in a competition organised by Family Mediation Scotland, a charity working with separating families. Mike Reid of Family Mediation Scotland explains: “We inaugurated Families Day in 2004 - we remember Mums and Dads on Mothers Day and Fathers Day, but realistically many families are made up differently. Stepfamilies are on the increase, and other family members may take an important caring role, both for children and older people. We ran an art competition in schools all over Scotland and the winner in each of three age groups had their picture made into a free card for Families Day. The top 100 pictures were exhibited in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery during summer 2004 but although many of the winners’ families managed to see the pictures in Edinburgh, we were very keen that the exhibition could be seen further north. We are delighted that Eden Court was interested in hosting the exhibition, and grateful for support from the Palace Hotel”.
