Patrick Vickery, Highland author, and the writer of a series of articles called the Garden Blether which regularly appear on websites around the world, has recently had two articles - "The Topiary Blether" (which deals primarily with the relationship between topiary and haircuts) and "The Critter Blether" (which among other things describes the efforts of a NASA scientist,
Claude, to deter chipmunks from eating his vegetable garden) - to be included in the Glasgow University (Department of English Literature) Scots Corpus archive of materials in January 2005.
The Scots Corpus is a collection of writings and text that demonstrate Scotland's linguistic diversity, culture and identity, and aims to archive this information for future generations.
For anyone interested in reading the two Blethers (essential reading of course for all gardeners with topiary haircuts, a sense of humour or a 'critter' problem!) they can be found on the "Garden Blether" website that can be accessed through any internet search facility.
