A Manuscript Book has been compiled by the Traditional Music Classes' tutors to accompany a 43-track CD. The compilation is for pupils to listen to and also to have the option of reading the music, or just to listen and learn the tunes by ear in the traditional manner.
The idea for a teaching aid CD came from the TMC tutors; and the making of the CD and manuscript book has been compiled and put together by the Mandolin and Guitar tutor Bob Massie.
Most of the beginners are keen to play in sessions and need to practice the tunes and bring them up to speed and this CD and Book gives them the opportunity to work at their own pace until they are ready to join in.
All the tutors have put two tunes on the CD including Anna Massie who was one of the project’s first fiddle tutors. Helping out on some of the tracks were Roz Bell, another of the Fiddle tutors, who also worked on the graphics for the CD cover and Eric Allen from Friends of Highland Music, who are part of the TMC Partnership, has written the foreword. The CD was recorded by Matthew Maclennan.
The cost of the CD and Manuscript Book is £8 with postage and packing of £1.
