Edinburgh Fringe Stand Up Comedy Show comes to the Highlands
14 September 2004

Direct from their successful show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe four of Scotland’s hottest stand-up comedy stars are bringing their off the wall comedy show to venues in Inverness and Nairn.   The Alive 4 Show ran throughout the three week festival and sold out regularly with the four comedians delighting audiences with their scandalous and deeply funny Stand Up Comedy. The team have wildly contrasting styles from the manic comedy fervour of Austin Low’s recollections of puberty to the laid back manner of the slightly disturbing Peter Aitcheson, there is sure to be something for everyone no matter what their taste in Stand-Up.

The Fringe show debued in the sinister vaults of Edinburgh’s most haunted pub, Nicol Edward’s Tavern and, despite its chilling venue, was warmly received by Festival goers.  Fortunately no ghostly apparitions appeared during the three week run, unless of course they managed to slip in as audience members, and Glasgow Comedians Obie and Andy Vaughan were able to establish a lively banter with the enthusiastic cosmopolitan Fringe audiences.

Throughout its festival run the Alive 4 Show featured a guest comedian each night with some of Scotland’s best comedians keen to join in the comedy chaos.  Amongst those appearing during the festival run were Raymond Mearns, one of Glasgow’s finest comedians, who regularly tops the bill in Jongleurs Comedy Clubs throughout the UK.  Another comedian who joined the four in their nightly comedy tirade was the energetic Ashley Frieze who somehow squeezed in appearance in between the two shows he performed every day during the Fringe.

Keeping up their tradition in showcasing other talented performers The Alive 4 Show will feature guest appearances from two local comedians, John Burns and John Diego, who performed alongside the Alive 4 Show team during the festival and were a big hit with the late night Festival crowd.  The Alive 4 Show and their guest stars will be appearing on Friday 24 September at the newly refurbished Spectrum Centre in Inverness and on Saturday 25 September at Rafters Pub in Nairn.
