It’s that time of year again, and the JD Fergusson Arts Award Trust is seeking applications from artists for its prestigious annual Award.

The Trust was set up in 1995 to provide support and encouragement to artists. Since then it has given eight awards, alternating each year between an exhibition award and a travel bursary. Submissions for the current award will be considered for an exhibition award. The winner will have the opportunity to develop a solo show to be held at The Fergusson Gallery, Perth in 2005.

The criteria of the award are simple; if you were born in Scotland or have lived more than half your life there you are eligible to apply. Artists of any age, working in any medium are considered. A qualification in art is not essential. The Trust is looking in particular for those who have shown a high level of commitment to their art but have not received any major awards or recognition to date.

The closing date for the Exhibition Award is 31 October 2004.
