Tree tales, tree poems, the secret passports into the world of trees, tree books, tree people, tree sculpture....Celebrating Forests is a two day event on 13 & 14 November in Culbin Woods that will offer participants the chance to experience a range of arts based activities that will help us see trees in new ways.
The weekend will be led by Gordon MacLellan of Creeping Toad. Creeping Toad (www.creepingtoad.org.uk) activities use readily available, often natural or recycled materials. Drawing on skills and knowledge from across the curriculum, they encourage a holistic approach to learning by weaving science into drama, language into art. In this workshop, activities will be presented as if for use with 9 – 12 year olds, but able to be transferred to informal youth and family events
The weekend will be suitable for arts workers, environmentalists, youth leaders, community workers and anybody who has an interest in developing skills in using the arts to celebrate the natural environment.
Celebrating Forests will take place on Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th November 2004 at Cloddymoss, Culbin Woods. The cost of the weekend is only £30 and this includes all materials and lunch on each day. Places are strictly limited – there are a few left. There will be an element of outside work on this course.
To book a place please call Caroline Coomber on 01343 557146 or email caroline.coomber@moray.gov.uk to check if places are available. You will be sent a booking form to complete and return with your non-refundable fee.
Looking at trees on walks, in woods, in parks and in familiar playgrounds and gardens will never be quite the same again. So join Gordon the Toad in Celebrating Forests.
