Despite a landslide on the A9 just north of his Perthshire home, and a couple of days when all roads around the tiny village of Butterstone were cut off by flooding water, the month of August has found Scotland’s foremost singer-songwriter Dougie MacLean busier than ever…performing at festivals and in concert from Kent in England to Belfast in Northern Ireland to Innerleithen festival in the Scottish Borders. Having played to over 1000 people at his two Edinburgh festival concerts last weekend, he is now packing again for 3 concerts in the Western Isles of Scotland. On Thursday 26th in Tobermory and Friday 27th in Bunessan (both on the Isle of Mull) then on Tuesday 30th on Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. Says MacLean “I’ve been lucky enough to travel all over the world with my music, but these next 3 concerts I’m especially looking forward to. My grandparents came over to the mainland from the Isle of Mull so I love the idea of taking my music back there, and the west coast of Lewis has become a real inspirational ‘home’ for my wife Jenny and I over the last 10 years…so it’s great to get to Stornoway for a concert”.
2004 has been a great year for MacLean …beginning with a sell-out performance in the Main Auditorium of the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall during Celtic Connections Festival 2004, followed by tours in the Netherlands, Eastern USA and Ontario, Canada then England and back to the south-east USA for 5 dates in 5 states… After his first ever concert in Florida (a sell-out!) he was presented with the keys to the city by the Mayor!
