HISSAC is the Highlands & Islands Short Story Association which aims to provide support for writers in the Highlands & Islands of Scotland where writing can be a lonely business. They hope to establish a network of writers who will critique and encourage each other’s work, and possibly even meet – distance permitting.

£100 first prize; max 2000 words; £3 per entry (no limit)
Closing date 15th November 2004; SAE for results;
Entrants from Highlands & Islands particularly encouraged, though everyone welcomed
