13 February 2004

A full day of opportunities to experience,  plan and debate the interesting topic of Arts Therapies, Creativity and the Community will be held on 9 March at Tigh na Sgire, Portree, Isle of Skye.

A group of enthusiastic people have put this day together in order to give practitioners, planners and academics the opportunity to explore this interesting proposal. The day is set on the beautiful Island of Skye, the perfect setting for creativity to flourish. The ACMI research and service provision proposal is sitting with the Scottish Executive. It has been developed over the past two years and you are now invited to come along and share the vision. The day will be of interest to anyone who is involved in the design delivery or planning of community health.
For example those working in; social work, community education, education culture and sport, primary care health professionals, General Practitioners, police, artists, voluntary sector, community carers etc.

The programme for the day will be: -

Session one
9.30pm –1pm followed by a soup and sandwich lunch

The morning will give practitioners from the statutory, private and voluntary sectors and opportunity to hear from a range of art therapists about their work. The project proposal will be discussed and all participants will be able to opt into a practical parallel session in the afternoon.

Session two
1pm-4.30pm lunch and an afternoon of planning

This session will involve all those who could be involved in the delivery of the project. Led by Highland Council area officers and Primary Care Managers, it is hoped to engage in a planning for real exercise in order to develop a shared vision of what using the arts therapies in the locality could provide

Session three
