Creative Media talent given boost by Funding Initiative
02 December 2003

Alt-w is an initiative set up to support and promote creative entrepreneurial talent and innovative digital productions that can be delivered via the web. The fund strongly encourages applicants to explore experimental and interactive creations.

Alt-w consists of a Partnership Board made up of Scottish Screen, Dundee City Council, Scottish Enterprise Tayside, Dundee College, University of Abertay and the School of Television and Imaging at University of Dundee.

Partner Universities and Colleges can provide equipment resources for successful applicants and where necessary specialists from these organisations can offer a limited level of training and mentoring support.

Eligibility

Applicants must live in Scotland. The fund will aim to support and develop Scotland's new media talent at all levels including:

  • Individuals (visual artists, designers, film & video makers, audio artists, musicians, games and program developers).
  • Artists' groups, writer/director/producer teams, games & program development teams.
  • Artists wanting to creatively explore the new media field. (Previous experience in this area is not necessary but you will need to demonstrate that you are able to realise the project you are proposing).
  • Students (provided projects are not part of examination coursework).

Production grants up to a maximum value of £2,500 are available. The deadline for applications is 30 January 2004. Guidelines and application forms are available at www.alt-w.com . For more information contact Pernille Spence on 01382 433042 or email info@alt-w.com
