Saturday 30 October 2004 is CSV Make a Difference Day, the UK’s largest day of hands on volunteering. Supported by Barclays, CSV Make a Difference Day encourages people to try volunteering for one day in an activity that will have a direct positive impact on the local community.
Last year, 88,000 people volunteered in over 4600 activities. Across the UK, volunteers renovated children’s hospices, transformed women’s refuge centres, improved access to parks and community buildings for disabled people, tackled bullying, cleared rubbish off the streets and brightened homes for older people. This year we are expecting 97,000 people to take part in over 5,000 activities on (or around) the 30th of October. Anyone from age 2½
to 105 can take part including individuals, schools, companies and social groups.
