A stunning line-up of live music has been programmed for The Dalriada
Festival 2004 with members of Capercaillie and Blazin Fiddles appearing at the
Festival Hub at Creag Ghlas, Cairnbaan, Lochgilphead, Argyll on 11th and 12th
June.
On Friday 11th the Festival welcomes singer songwriter Andi
Neate, en route to a prestigious appearance at Glastonbury Festival. A feast of
traditional music follows from the Leo McCann Trio, an eclectic line up
including All Ireland champion fiddler Claire Mann, guitarist Aaron Jones and
the superlative Leo on button box, all rounding off the show in inimitable
style.
On Saturday 12th, in a unique double bill, the evening opens with Cantrip, a
high energy four piece featuring former Iron Horse front man Gavin Marwick with
a set of instrumental magic from Scotland, Ireland, Norway the Basque regions
and beyond. The Festival highlight follows with a special appearance by
Capercaillie fiddler Charlie McKerron, with Blazin Fiddles guitarist Marc
Clement and Session A9 stalwart Tim Edey rounding off the Festival Hub
entertainment in a truly Celtic connection.
Dalriada Arts & Culture and Wild Biscuit Music, in Partnership with the
Dalriada Project, aim to build on the success of the inaugural Dalriada Revival
Festival of 2002. With additional assistance from the Scottish Arts Council it
has been possible to programme a showcase of some of the best acoustic music in
Scotland, and Minister for Tourism Culture and Sport Frank McAveety has
expressed his best wishes for this significant cultural Festival.
Doors for both nights at The Festival Hub open at 7.00pm with performances
beginning at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5.00 and available from Argyll Book
Centre, Lochgilphead, 01546 603596. The Festival Hub music events are
non-licenced so that all age groups can attend (under 16’s must be accompanied
by an adult).
In keeping with the celebrational spirit of this Festival, further events
will be held in the AncientKingdom including instrumental evenings
with Dalriada Accordion and Fiddle Club at the Cairnbaan Hotel and Argyll
Hotel, performances from local traditional group Erin Go Bragh at The Stag
Hotel, Lochgilphead and a very special Blues Tribute Band appearing at The
Argyll Hotel, Lochgilphead. A full Festival Music programme will be available in
