| Towards a Mentally Flourishing and Inclusive Highland Interested parties are invited to participate in a consultation event, on March 5th, 6th & 7th 2008 - 10.00am to 3.30pm, to discuss the current document ‘Towards a Mentally Flourishing Scotland’ which sets out a vision for mental health improvement and population mental health 2008-11. In setting the future direction, the paper focuses on what Local Authorities, NHS Boards and other key stakeholders can do to enhance, promote and support mental health improvement and population mental health. 28 February 2008 |

| Ministers Give Green Light to Arts Centre for the North Plans for a major new centre for the contemporary arts, the first of its kind in the North of Scotland, were today approved by the Scottish Government. The £12.5 million development is expected to be completed by 2010 and provide a much-needed boost to this part of Scotland's cultural provision.

| Nicolson Arts Exhibition at Moray Art Centre. Nicholson Arts Ltd a charity offering art and craft orientated activities to adults with mental health issues is showcasing a diverse selection of works in a exhibition at Moray Art Centre. The exhibition, which opens to the public on Saturday 23 February, will show work of past and present clients from the region. The exhibition aims to raise awareness in mental health issues and bring the service provided by the charity to the attention of the public. The exhibition covers a variety of themes from landscapes and still life to portraiture and abstract, using a range of media including drawing, printmaking, painting and mixed media.

| The Pier Arts Centre, Orkney - Re-furbishment, Extension and Re-launch. The Pier Arts Centre in Orkney opened in 1979 to provide a home for an important collection of British fine art donated to ‘be held in trust for Orkney’ by the author, peace activist and philanthropist Margaret Gardiner (1904–2005). Alongside the display of this special collection, the Centre, housed in a complex of historic harbour-side buildings, presents a continuous year round programme of changing exhibitions and events for the education and enjoyment of the general public.
