| Commissioned poem celebrates Scotland’s most Treasured Place The Lady Victoria Colliery, winner of RCAHMS’ ‘Treasured Places’ vote, is today celebrated in verse by Edinburgh’s Makar, Valerie Gillies. Valerie’s poem will be presented to the Colliery, now the Scottish Mining Museum, by the Minister for Culture, Linda Fabiani.

| Channel 4 looking for new Directors for Web Films Channel 4’s talent development initiative 4Talent Scotland is looking for new directors to take part in industry master classes and work with experienced 4Talent producers to create new, inspiring, creative videos for the 4Talent Scotland website.
Following the master classes, to take place in the Highlands and in Glasgow, three directors will be selected to work with Lewis-based production company Mac TV, producers of award winning documentaries such as Martyn Bennett:Grit and Downhill Racer, as well as long running arts strand series such as Ealtainn . Another five will work with Glasgow production company Blindside, who have produced various videos for the 4Talent Scotland website, such as Traffic, Trash and Toilets and Another Fine Mess.
To win a place on one of the master classes, and the chance to make a short film for the 4Talent website working alongside Blindside or MacTV, filmmakers and directors are invited to submit three ideas for the kind of films they’d like to see on the 4Talent website. | Scottish Ballet Receives Top Award in Britain's Dance Oscars Scottish Ballet is delighted to announce that the Company was today awarded the Critics’ Circle National Dance Award Company Prize for Outstanding Repertoire (Classical), fending off competition from both The Royal Ballet and Bolshoi Ballet companies. The National Dance Awards are the highlight of the dance calendar and are voted for by critics, the majority of whom write regularly for national and regional newspapers and magazines.

| Pipedown at the Assynt ‘End of the Road’ Following the huge success of the ‘Stories from the Straths Exhibition’ in Strathy last week, Essie and the team will be setting up camp in Lochinver next week. Visitors’ comments on the Strathy Exhibition and events included –‘magnificent’, ‘imaginative and atmospheric’ and ‘visually inspiring’.
